MANILA: Pakistan and the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering cooperation under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.

According to Radio Pakistan, the European Union’s High Representative warmly recalled her recent visit to Islamabad for the 8th round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue. During their discussions, both leaders exchanged views on regional developments and emphasized the importance of sustained diplomacy as the viable path to achieving peace and stability, particularly in the context of the US-Iran situation.

The discussions also touched on the broader implications for regional security, global energy markets, maritime security, and trade and supply chains, highlighting the significance of continued dialogue and adherence to international law. Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to implementing international conventions underpinning the GSP Plus framework, underscoring the value Pakistan places on its economic partnership with the European Union.
