Pakistan Seeks to Strengthen Ties with ASEAN in Trade and Connectivity

MANILA: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s desire to enhance its engagement with the ASEAN region during a meeting with Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn at the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum.

According to Radio Pakistan, both parties reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and ASEAN and explored ways to deepen their engagement in trade, connectivity, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic location and economic potential, noting the broad convergence of interests between Pakistan and ASEAN.

He highlighted the significant scope for enhanced cooperation across various sectors and welcomed closer engagement to achieve shared prosperity. Dr. Kao also appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation amid recent regional developments, expressing hope that continued diplomacy would contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Both sides agreed to remain engaged and work together to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
