Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has underscored the importance of peace as essential for the country’s development and prosperity, marking the occasion of the International Day of Peace. She emphasized that individuals resorting to violence and unrest pose a threat to national progress and stability.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the chief minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by officers and personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces, police, and other security forces tasked with safeguarding the nation’s borders and maintaining law and order in Punjab. She paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives for peace and extended her gratitude to the Ghazis for their services.

In her statement, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the need for every individual to contribute positively to promoting peace in society. She stated that peace is not merely the absence of war but involves living with justice, love, and respect. The Punjab government, she noted, is committed to fostering peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony.

The chief minister’s message on the International Day of Peace reaffirmed a commitment to upholding tolerance and peaceful coexistence, which she described as fundamental for the nation’s development. She also expressed a prayer for lasting peace and prosperity in Pakistan and globally.
