Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of higher education scholarship programs and the implementation of a new iPad scheme aimed at enhancing the educational resources for students in Punjab.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, during the meeting held on March 7, Chief Minister Sharif called for a comprehensive review and enhancement of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) scholarship scheme, expressing dissatisfaction with the initial briefing provided. Highlighting the importance of modernizing the educational sector, she emphasized the need for a detailed plan that aligns with current academic and technological advancements.

A significant directive from the Chief Minister included conducting a thorough survey among students to ascertain their needs regarding iPads and laptops. This initiative aims to tailor the distribution of technological tools to students’ specific requirements, ensuring that the support provided is both meaningful and effective.

Chief Minister Sharif underscored the necessity of receiving direct feedback from students in the iPad and laptop scheme, asserting that the education sector must be purpose-driven and well-oriented towards the future. “The education sector should not be aimless and directionless,” she remarked, committing to the development of higher education and other institutions along modern lines.

The meeting was attended by notable figures including Former Senator Pervez Rasheed, Members of Provincial Assembly Maryam Aurangzeb, Nosheen Adnan, Rana Sikandar Hayat, as well as the Chief Secretary, Chairman of Planning and Development, Secretary Finance, Secretary Higher Education, Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), and other officials.

This initiative marks a step towards integrating technology into education, aiming to equip students in Punjab with the necessary tools to excel in a rapidly evolving academic and professional landscape.
