ISLAMABAD: The central Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) ended peacefully in Islamabad, with extensive security measures implemented by the Islamabad Police. More than 3,000 police officers and officials, along with support from the Pakistan Rangers and other law enforcement agencies, ensured the safety of participants.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi spearheaded the security arrangements, personally visiting the procession route and monitoring the situation from the Safe City Islamabad Command and Control Centre. He was accompanied by Director General Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joya, DIG Headquarters Muhammad Jawad Tariq, DIG Law and Order Muhammad Ateeq Tahir, DIG Security Rana Umar Farooq, and other senior police officials.

To fortify security, the police established a robust security cordon along the route, conducted strict checks at entry and exit points, and employed various technologies such as Safe City surveillance cameras, drone monitoring, and bomb disposal sweeps. Additionally, the event saw the deployment of walk-through gates, rooftop armed officials, and armored vehicles. Special arrangements were made for lighting, traffic management, and emergency response, with coordinated efforts from the Operations Division, Counter Terrorism Department, Special Branch, Logistics Division, SWAT, Lady Police, and Islamabad Traffic Police.

IGP Rizvi praised the officers and officials for their professionalism and vigilance, emphasizing the importance of their continued alertness. He reiterated the priority of protecting citizens and maintaining peace during religious gatherings, asserting the police force’s commitment to upholding law and order through advanced technology and strategic planning in collaboration with other agencies.
