Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, on the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, has called for concerted efforts to promote tolerance and reject hate speech. He highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and mutual respect to strengthen social cohesion and democratic values.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to diversity, interfaith harmony, and community respect. He noted that Islamic teachings oppose hatred and discrimination while advocating for peace and compassion. Gilani urged parliamentarians, media, educational institutions, and civil society to counter divisive narratives and support constructive dialogue. He also called for responsible use of digital and social media to combat misinformation and hate-driven content.
The Senate of Pakistan, Gilani affirmed, remains dedicated to promoting unity, inclusivity, and democratic values. He encouraged citizens to reject intolerance and collaborate towards a society characterized by peace and respect.
