Chairman Senate Urges Collective Action on Environmental Challenges


Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has called for urgent and collective efforts to tackle environmental issues and safeguard natural resources, marking World Environment Day with a message highlighting the critical threats posed by climate change, deforestation, and pollution.



According to Press Information Department, the Chairman Senate underscored the significance of adopting environmentally responsible policies and promoting sustainable practices across all levels of society. Gilani emphasized that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility, necessitating active involvement from governments, institutions, communities, and individuals. He pointed out that despite Pakistan’s minimal contribution to global emissions, the country is highly vulnerable to climate-related disasters.



Gilani advocated for increased awareness regarding environmental conservation, efficient use of resources, afforestation, clean energy, and responsible waste management. He stressed that investment in green development and climate resilience is crucial for securing a safer future. On World Environment Day, he encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to engage in practical environmental protection activities such as tree planting, reducing pollution, conserving water, and adopting eco-friendly practices.



The Chairman Senate reaffirmed the Senate of Pakistan’s dedication to supporting policies and initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience, aiming for a greener and more prosperous nation.
