ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani warmly welcomed a high-level delegation led by Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, at Parliament House. The meeting emphasized the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, highlighting its role as a cornerstone for regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Senate Gilani underscored the historic diplomatic ties as the two countries mark 75 years of relations, reflecting a bond based on mutual trust and respect. He highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and emphasized sustained engagement between lawmakers to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.

Chairman Gilani cited numerous visits to China in various national capacities, meeting with Chinese leadership and contributing to significant bilateral agreements. He acknowledged the foundational efforts of visionary leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Mao Zedong, and Zhou Enlai in solidifying the Pakistan-China relationship.

The Chairman reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and emphasized the importance of cooperation in agriculture, energy, technology, and more. He welcomed increased Chinese investment and stressed the significance of people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges.

Vice Chairman Cai Dafeng expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and reiterated China’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic, parliamentary, economic, and developmental cooperation. The meeting, attended by key parliamentarians and officials, further solidified the strategic partnership between the two nations.
