Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, addressed a public gathering in Khangarh, celebrating the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan as a symbol of principled politics and national unity. Gilani, a former Prime Minister of Pakistan, highlighted Khan’s enduring contributions to democracy and congratulated Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan on receiving the Nishan-e-Imtiaz on behalf of his late father.

According to Press Information Department, the gathering was organized to honor the posthumous conferment of Pakistan’s highest civil award, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, on Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan. Participants at the event reflected on Khan’s political and democratic struggle, acknowledging his resistance against authoritarian rule and his sacrifices for democracy. Khan, often referred to as the “Father of Democracy,” was remembered for his unwavering political principles and resilience during periods of political persecution, notably under General Zia-ul-Haq.

Speakers at the event emphasized Khan’s role in mentoring many political leaders at his residence, regarded as a political academy. The Government of Pakistan’s decision to award the Nishan-e-Imtiaz was commended as a significant recognition of his services.

The event was attended by several former and current political figures, including Mehr Irshad Sial, Mian Alamdar Qureshi, and other local leaders, party workers, and community members.
