Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has advocated for increased collaboration between Pakistan and South Korea in the sectors of biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and healthcare innovation. In a meeting with a high-level South Korean delegation led by Mr. Cho, CEO of KOA-Bio, Gilani emphasized the potential for enhanced bilateral ties and mutual growth in these fields.
According to Press Information Department, the Chairman Senate welcomed the delegation and highlighted the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea, noting the progress in trade, investment, and technology over the past four decades. While acknowledging the growth in bilateral trade, Gilani pointed out the untapped potential, especially in sectors like biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
Gilani underscored the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering bilateral relations and promoting dialogue between the countries. He mentioned the Pakistan-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group as an instrumental platform for legislative cooperation and engaging both nations’ citizens. He expressed optimism that continued exchanges among parliamentarians and various sectors would deepen scientific and economic collaboration.
The Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to research and innovation, citing the country’s universities, medical institutions, and research centers as vital resources for international partnerships. He encouraged long-term collaborations in biotechnology, pharmaceutical innovation, and medical devices, focusing on joint research and technology partnerships.
Highlighting artificial intelligence’s transformative role in healthcare, Gilani expressed Pakistan’s interest in collaborating with South Korean institutions in AI-assisted medical research and digital diagnostics. He also invited South Korean companies to explore opportunities in medical device manufacturing and digital healthcare solutions, given Pakistan’s expanding healthcare infrastructure.
Gilani informed the delegation of Pakistan’s improved investment climate, facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s streamlined mechanism for strategic investments. He encouraged business partnerships and technology transfer between South Korean companies and Pakistani entities.
The South Korean delegation expressed gratitude for the reception and strong interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan in biotechnology and healthcare innovation.
