Chairman Senate Calls for Collective Efforts to Counter Hate Speech


ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, on the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, highlighted the urgent need for collective efforts to promote tolerance, harmony, and mutual respect in society. He cautioned against the dangers of hate speech, stating it undermines social cohesion, democratic values, and peaceful coexistence.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to diversity, interfaith harmony, and respect for all communities. He noted that Islamic teachings reject hatred, prejudice, and discrimination, advocating instead for peace, compassion, and respect for humanity.



Gilani also called on parliamentarians, media, educational institutions, and civil society to actively discourage divisive narratives and promote constructive dialogue. He emphasized the importance of responsible digital and social media use in countering misinformation and content driven by hate.



In conclusion, the Chairman reaffirmed the Senate of Pakistan’s dedication to fostering unity, inclusivity, and democratic values, urging citizens to collectively reject intolerance and strive for a peaceful and respectful society.
