Karachi: The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, engaged with a delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Karachi, continuing his practice of monthly visits to the city. The meeting aimed to review progress on prior discussions and address new issues, with the delegation led by Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon and attended by senior figures from FPCCI, while Mr. Langrial was joined by senior FBR officials.

According to Press Information Department, the FPCCI delegation expressed appreciation for Mr. Langrial’s initiative of regular engagement, highlighting its positive impact on communication between FBR and trade bodies. The delegation noted that this approach has allowed timely addressing of business community concerns. Majority of issues from previous meetings were reported to have been resolved, thanks to the efforts of Member Operations (Inland Revenue and Customs) and their teams.

The meeting also addressed the need for ongoing follow-up on unresolved matters, with new issues such as classification issues and old income tax refunds brought to the table. Mr. Langrial assured the delegation that these concerns would be prioritized and resolved in collaboration with relevant FBR representatives.

In his remarks, Mr. Langrial reiterated FBR’s commitment to maintaining a facilitative and responsive approach with the business community. He emphasized the importance of regular engagement to strengthen trust and effectively address taxpayer concerns. Mr. Langrial also urged FPCCI leaders to support a retailers scheme to expand the tax base and distribute the tax burden more equitably.
