Islamabad: Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and Secretary Finance, Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal, hosted a luncheon to honor the core budget team responsible for preparing the Federal Budget 2026-27. The event was attended by FBR Board Members and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and FBR.

According to Press Information Department, the Chairman FBR commended the team for their professionalism and commitment in formulating a budget aimed at fostering economic growth while providing relief to the common citizen. He noted the complexity involved due to the variety of stakeholders engaged, including revenue administration, the Tax Policy Office, inter-ministerial coordination, and the provincial governments. The seamless execution of the budget, with cohesive collaboration between FBR and the Tax Policy Office, was highlighted as a notable achievement.

The Secretary Finance congratulated the team on the successful preparation of a people-centric and growth-oriented budget. He emphasized the importance of policy design quality and the ability of a large, multi-institutional team to work in alignment, which the team had successfully demonstrated.

Key contributions were individually recognized during the event. Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, Member (Strategic Transformation), was acknowledged for leading the budget process across various forums. Dr. Najeeb Memon, Director General TPO, was recognized for advocating for relief measures within IMF constraints. Mr. Ashad Jawad, Member (Customs Policy), was commended for negotiating the customs budget. Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Member (Administration), ensured logistical support for the budget exercise.

Directors TPO Mr. Ajaz Hussain and Chaudhry Munir Ahmed were appreciated for their dedication, along with Project Director TDU Dr. Najeebullah for his commitment. Dr. Zehra Farooq, Special Assistant to Member (Strategic Transformation), and Mr. Ali Abbas, Special Assistant to Member (Policy), were also recognized for their significant contributions.

The luncheon served as an acknowledgment of the coordination and dedication that facilitated the successful formulation of the Federal Budget 2026-27.
