Caretaker Prime Minister Asserts No Delay in Upcoming General Elections

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:The forthcoming general elections will proceed as scheduled, assured Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, decisively dismissing any speculations about potential delays. In a recent interview with a private television channel, he confirmed that the election announcements and processes would transpire punctually, emphasizing the caretaker government’s commitment to orchestrating free and fair elections. The Prime Minister also addressed allegations concerning the caretaker government’s inclination towards the PML-N and elaborated on the government’s stance on the political participation and the decision-making process, according to a press release from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB).

Prime Minister Kakar underlined that all registered political entities possess lawful and constitutional rights to campaign, garner public involvement, and secure public endorsement. He elaborated that whilst the government fosters an environment conducive for political canvassing and engagement, it will not assume responsibility if an individual or entity is legally excluded from the political process.

Additionally, in response to allegations of the caretaker government favouring PML-N, the Prime Minister dismissed such claims as conventional pre-election strategies employed by political parties to draw public support. He emphasized that such impressions are commonly created by political entities in the run-up to elections with the aim of magnetizing public favour.

Addressing the government’s relationship with the military leadership, Prime Minister Kakar articulated his comfort and harmony with the military echelons, affirming that the final word in decision-making rests squarely with the caretaker government. His words echo a resolute intention to uphold democratic processes, emphasizing punctuality and fairness in the execution of the impending elections.
