QUETTA, Murtaza Solangi, the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has committed to enhancing the state media by integrating the latest technology and digital tools. This announcement was made during his visit to the Quetta Bureau of the Associated Press of Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Solangi emphasized the caretaker government’s dedication to an open media policy and the independence of state media reporting. He highlighted the government’s awareness of its constitutional duties, notably in ensuring the smooth conduct of transparent, peaceful, and free elections in the country.
Solangi noted that while the government will address issues within its constitutional scope, it is also focused on implementing substantial reforms in state institutions. Part of this reform includes upgrading public institutions, with particular attention to bringing state media, including the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), in line with international media organizations.
The Minister stressed the importance of enhancing the capacity of employees in the Information Ministry and its associated departments. He mentioned that capacity-building measures and refresher courses are planned to improve overall employee performance.
During his visit, Solangi received comprehensive briefings on the operations of the state news agency and the Press Information Department (PID) in Quetta. He recognized PID’s vital role and expressed intentions to develop it on modern lines for quicker information dissemination. Additionally, Solangi visited various sections of the PID office, interacting with employees and addressing their concerns.
The visit also included a stop at the Pakistan Information Center, where Solangi learned about the training programs provided to journalists on diverse topics, further underscoring the government’s commitment to media development and employee skill enhancement.
