Islamabad: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has urged federal and provincial governments to collaborate on a long-term plan focused on growth-oriented economic policies to meet the country’s development and defense needs. Speaking during the National Assembly’s ongoing budget debate, he emphasized the importance of political consensus to effectively tackle national challenges.
According to Radio Pakistan, Bilawal expressed satisfaction with the agreement between Sindh and other provinces to contribute to national defense, noting that this arrangement was achieved through consensus within the constitutional framework and democratic norms. He also lauded the increased budget allocation for the Benazir Income Support Programme, highlighting its positive impact on the underprivileged.
Addressing the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bilawal urged protesters to disengage from violence and resolve issues through peaceful dialogue. He also proposed interim parliamentary representation for Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan’s Parliament, advocating for political solutions to all issues.
