Bangladesh Delegation Visits Pakistan to Observe Disaster Management Systems


Islamabad: A high-level delegation from Bangladesh, led by Additional Secretary Ms. Salmah Mahtab, visited the National Emergency Operations Center at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters in Islamabad to study Pakistan’s disaster management systems and early warning capabilities.



According to Press Information Department, the visit was facilitated by the Command and Staff Academy of Pakistan. Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation in disaster risk management. He highlighted the significance of shared learning and collaboration, particularly with Bangladesh, in addressing climate-induced hazards and transboundary disaster risks.



The delegation was presented with a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s disaster management framework, showcasing the operational capabilities of NEOC. This included trigger-based anticipatory action systems, national resource mobilization, and international logistical support. The presentation underscored how data-driven early warning systems and coordinated response mechanisms enable timely decision-making during emergencies. Discussions also covered the “Pak Disaster Lens 2026,” detailing the validation of Early Warning System Phase-1 and future enhancements, as well as the “Global Disaster Lens 2026,” which compared global practices with Pakistan’s alignment to international standards.



The visit facilitated constructive discussions on strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in areas such as early warning systems, joint search and rescue operations, and capacity building. Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing resilience and improving preparedness in disaster risk management across the region.



The visit concluded on a positive note with an exchange of souvenirs, marking a significant step toward deepening cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh in disaster management.
