Quetta, Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Longo emphasized the need for a decisive approach to combating terrorism during his visit to the Central Police Office in Quetta. He was welcomed by IG Police Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, who briefed him on various projects at the facility, including the Safety Command and Control Room, Police Library, Women’s Day Care Center, and Police Archive Center.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the Interior Minister addressed participants at the meeting, stressing the importance of ensuring peace and security. He stated that police and other agencies must focus on checkposts to dismantle terrorist networks. Longo highlighted that the province, which has been susceptible to terrorist activities, must be freed from such threats to ensure safety for its citizens.
Longo acknowledged the challenges of eliminating terrorism completely, noting that more than 25 years have passed, and the issue persists. He called for a “decisive war” to eradicate terrorism and expressed pride in the security forces’ efforts. The Minister remarked that a stable law and order situation is crucial for construction and development, and all nations seeking progress must first establish peace within themselves.
The Interior Minister also discussed the importance of a people-friendly approach in policing, indicating that community policing could improve the overall performance of the police. He mentioned that police should remain vigilant to maintain law and order and provide security to the public. Longo noted that the police force in Balochistan is being developed on modern lines, with work underway on the Safe City project to promote peace in other districts of the province.
The meeting was attended by various police officials, including DIG Kota Abdul Hai Aamir Baloch, DI Headquarters Qamarul Hasan, DIG Tele Ali Sher Jukrani, along with DIGs from Naseerabad, Sabi, Loralai, Gwadar, and other relevant officers.
