Islamabad, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E Mr. Neil Hawkins, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, today in Islamabad to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing economic cooperation. The meeting focused on various initiatives aimed at fostering closer ties between the two nations, particularly in trade and digitalization efforts.
According to Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to privatizing State-Owned Enterprises and the ongoing investments from countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The Finance Minister also discussed the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the digitalization of Pakistan’s tax system, with consultancy services provided by McKinsey and Company. The Australian High Commissioner detailed Australia’s engagement with Pakistan’s agricultural universities to boost production in agriculture and livestock sectors, affirming continued support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
