Asim Iftikhar Highlights Pakistan’s Sacrifices in War on Terror at UN Event

New York: In a collaborative event organized by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations and the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism, discussions centered on evolving patterns in terrorism and the global response. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and other key speakers addressed the escalating use of technology by terrorist organizations and the sacrifices made by Pakistan in combatting terrorism.

According to Radio Pakistan, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad delivered opening remarks at the UN Headquarters, providing insights into regional perspectives on terrorism and the challenges posed by modern technological advancements utilized by terrorist groups. He emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Acting Under Secretary General of the UNOCT, Alexandre Zouev, highlighted the sophisticated and multipolar nature of contemporary terrorism. He stressed the importance of preventive measures to tackle emerging threats, such as artificial intelligence, encrypted services, and digital assets, which are increasingly used by terrorist organizations.

Speakers at the event agreed on the necessity of addressing the fundamental causes of instability and terrorism. They called for timely preventive actions to counteract new and emerging threats, ensuring a more proactive global stance against terrorism.
