Army Chief and Chinese Military Leader Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation


Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for its unwavering support for Pakistan during a meeting with General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China. The discussions focused on regional security and strengthening bilateral defense ties.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Zhang Youxia visited the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi accompanied by a high-level delegation. The visit included a one-on-one meeting with General Munir, followed by delegation-level talks. The discussions centered on mutual interests, regional security dynamics, measures for regional stability, and enhancing bilateral defense cooperation.



General Munir highlighted the long-standing and resilient nature of Pakistan-China relations, underpinned by mutual trust and cooperation. He emphasized that the partnership has endured over time and is set to grow further. General Zhang expressed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s commitment to their strategic partnership and praised the Pakistan Army’s counter-terrorism efforts, reiterating China’s resolve to strengthen this enduring relationship.



Earlier, upon arrival at the GHQ, General Zhang laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada as a tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs, and received a guard of honor from the Pakistan Army.
