Islamabad: The Armed Forces of Pakistan are prepared to support the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and civil administration in ongoing relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts, as communicated by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during his visit to the National Emergencies Operation Centre. The assurance was provided amidst the challenges posed by the current monsoon season.

According to Radio Pakistan, Field Marshal Munir, who serves as both the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, was briefed on the nation’s disaster preparedness and response strategies at the NDMA headquarters. The briefing included an overview of the operational capabilities of the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and its technological advancements, notably the “Disaster Lens 2026,” which provides real-time monitoring of monsoon conditions and multi-hazard situations.

During the visit, the Field Marshal praised the NDMA for its efforts in enhancing Pakistan’s disaster management capabilities. He highlighted the importance of readiness, effective inter-agency coordination, and rapid response to protect lives and critical infrastructure. The commitment of Pakistan’s Armed Forces to assist in these endeavors underscores the collaborative approach necessary to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters.
