Archbishop Gallagher to Make Historic Visit to Pakistan, Fostering Diplomatic and Interfaith Dialogue


Islamabad: His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See, will embark on a historic visit to Pakistan from October 8 to 10, 2026. The visit is at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Holy See.



According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this visit will be the first by a Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Holy See to Pakistan. Archbishop Gallagher’s itinerary includes meetings with key government officials, including a discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on topics such as interfaith harmony, dialogue, peace, and regional and international developments. He is also expected to meet with the Prime Minister of Pakistan.



In addition to governmental engagements, Archbishop Gallagher will connect with members of the Catholic community in Pakistan. This visit is seen as a milestone in the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the Holy See, highlighting a shared commitment to enhance mutual understanding, cooperation, and trust, with a focus on promoting interfaith harmony and peace.
