APHC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Demographic Changes in IIOJK

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced significant concern over what it describes as India’s efforts to change the demographic landscape of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The group is urging the United Nations to swiftly address these actions and engage in resolving the protracted Kashmir conflict.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, APHC recently conducted a meeting in Srinagar, where leaders highlighted the policies of the BJP-led Indian government in the region. They compared these actions to Israel’s policies in Palestine. APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas pointed out the use of military force and stringent laws to quell the Kashmiri people’s aspirations for independence. The meeting noted a worrying increase in extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, dismissals of government employees, and the forced occupation of properties by Indian authorities.

The Hurriyat leaders accused India of annulling Articles 370 and 35A as part of its strategy to maintain control over Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting asserted that enduring peace and security in South Asia hinge on resolving the Kashmir issue in line with United Nations resolutions and the genuine desires of the Kashmiri populace.

The APHC called for dialogue between India and Pakistan to address the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing that such talks should reflect the applicable United Nations resolutions and the Kashmiri people’s legitimate aspirations. Furthermore, the meeting expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees, including several prominent leaders, urging international human rights organizations to pressure India for their immediate release, as these individuals face unjust imprisonment in jails across India and IIOJK.
