Muzaffarabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter plans to hold a protest rally in Muzaffarabad on January 5th, 2025, to mark the Right to Self-Determination Day.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the organizing committee, guided by APHC-AJK leaders including Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Mushtaq Islam, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Zahid Ashraf, and Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, is engaging with multiple political entities to finalize the rally’s arrangements. The event will be spearheaded by APHC-AJK Convenor Ghulam Muhammad Safi along with other key Kashmiri figures. Meetings have been conducted with Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Opposition Leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, and refugee leaders, inviting their participation.
The Hurriyat leaders emphasized the ongoing resistance against what they describe as Indian oppression in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They noted that during the rally, demands will be made for the United Nations Security Council to facilitate a plebiscite in line with its resolutions. They also called for unified demands from the state for a referendum against Indian military presence and state actions. Additionally, calls were made for a unanimous resolution in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly before the rally, urging the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir’s self-determination.
