Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has voiced significant concerns over the escalation of Indian state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mateen, in a statement issued in Islamabad, condemned the intensifying acts of violence and repression by Indian troops in the occupied territory. These acts include ongoing killings, arrests, desecration of women, and the destruction of houses and properties.
Mateen asserted that the people of Kashmir are making unparalleled sacrifices for their right to self-determination and vowed that their struggle would persist until it reaches its logical conclusion. He also criticized what he described as India’s attempts to alter the demographic balance of the region by reducing its Muslim majority.
The General Secretary paid homage to the Kashmiri individuals who have lost their lives and lauded the resilience of the Hurriyat leaders and activists currently detained in various jails in India and the occupied territory. Among those named were prominent figures like Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The statement issued by Sheikh Abdul Mateen also included an appeal to the United Nations to intervene for the immediate release of these Hurriyat leaders and activists.
Additionally, other leaders of the APHC-AJK chapter, including Imtiyaz Wani, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, and Altaf Ahmed Butt, echoed these sentiments in separate statements. They maintained that the indigenous freedom movement in Kashmir could not be suppressed by killings, harassment, or other tactics employed by Indian authorities, and affirmed the Kashmiri people’s commitment to continue their struggle for freedom and self-determination.
