Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter organized a protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad today, led by APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, speakers at the protest, including Saghar, expressed the determination of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for self-determination. They accused India of systematically committing genocide against Kashmiris through fake encounters, and the use of drones and chemical weapons in search operations.
The leaders condemned India’s efforts to alter the demographic composition of the occupied territory from a Muslim majority to a minority. They highlighted the severe human rights violations occurring in occupied Kashmir and called on the international community to intervene and halt these abuses.
The protest underscored the belief that without a resolution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, peace and security in South Asia will remain elusive. The leaders called on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to advocate for the release of Hurriyat leaders and activists detained in Indian and Kashmiri jails.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Yusuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Altaf Hussain Wani, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, and several others. Notably, Pir Ali Raza Bukhari from the Pakistan Council for Social Welfare and Human Rights also addressed the gathering.
The demonstration in Islamabad reflects the ongoing tensions in Kashmir and the continued call for international attention and intervention in the region.
