AJK President Calls for Unified Political Effort on Kashmir Issue

Muzaffarabad: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Muhammad Chaudhry, emphasized the need for all political parties to unite on a single platform to address the Kashmir issue effectively. He made these remarks during a dinner at Awan Sadar yesterday, which was attended by a broad spectrum of political leaders and dignitaries from AJK.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the gathering aimed to consolidate efforts across political lines to bolster the freedom movement of Kashmir, which he believes will produce better results through collective action. “If we all work together for the freedom movement of Kashmir, it will yield better results,” President Chaudhry stated.

The event saw the participation of prominent figures including Prime Minister of AJK Chaudhry Anwarul Haque, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, several former Prime Ministers, leaders of opposition, and other key political and community leaders from both AJK and the UK. The President urged that despite the political differences, the primary focus should remain on the broader issue of Kashmir’s autonomy and the plight of its people.

President Chaudhry also highlighted the critical situation of the Hurriyat leadership in Occupied Kashmir, noting their arrest and the suppression of their voices. He stressed the importance of using digital platforms to internationalize the Kashmir issue and combat the narrative driven by Indian authorities. “Now social media is playing an important role in shaping public opinion; we have to fight the atrocities of India on the digital front,” he added.

The president also expressed concern over the cultural and identity erosion in Kashmir due to what he described as “an organized conspiracy” by India. He called upon all stakeholders to be vocal and active in preserving Kashmiri culture and continuing the struggle for freedom.

This call for unity and action underscores a significant moment for AJK’s political leadership as they navigate the complex dynamics of regional politics and international diplomacy concerning the Kashmir issue.
