Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the necessity of maintaining political stability to support Pakistan’s economic growth while unveiling the September 2026 Monthly Development Update. Speaking at the presentation, Iqbal emphasized the need for political disputes to be resolved through Parliament and the courts, stressing how instability could undermine investor confidence and economic development.

According to Press Information Department, Iqbal noted that the country had made significant strides in restoring economic confidence and solidifying its economic foundations over the past two and a half years. He pointed to falling oil prices as a factor that could alleviate inflationary pressures and improve the economic environment. The minister reported an improvement in key economic indicators, with notable successes achieved at the international level. However, Iqbal urged for these global achievements to be translated into internal economic strength, emphasizing the importance of a stable political climate for sustaining economic progress.

The Federal Minister elaborated on various measures being taken to address inflation, strengthen the manufacturing sector, and improve Pakistan’s external economic position. He detailed the government’s focus on sustainable growth, investment, and creating opportunities for the population, particularly through initiatives like URAAN Pakistan. Iqbal also highlighted the significance of expanding exports, increasing foreign investment, and implementing fiscal reforms to ensure continued economic stability and growth.
