Acting President Gilani Highlights Strong Pakistan-China Relations at Seminar


Islamabad: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani today reaffirmed the enduring relationship between Pakistan and China during a special seminar organized by the Pakistan-China Economic and Cultural Council (PCECC) to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The event gathered key political figures, diplomats, and policy experts to discuss the global importance of Xi Jinping’s ‘Thought on Party Building’ and its relevance to the Pakistan-China partnership.



According to Press Information Department, Mr. Gilani highlighted China’s development under CPC leadership as a testament to the strength of robust institutions and long-term planning. He noted the party’s significant role in China’s economic transformation and poverty alleviation, contributing to global development. Mr. Gilani emphasized the relevance of Xi Jinping’s focus on self-reform and accountability for political parties worldwide, particularly in the Global South.



The Acting President characterized the Pakistan-China relationship as an Iron Brotherhood, rooted in mutual trust and strategic cooperation. He acknowledged the historical contributions of leaders such as Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Mao Zedong, and Zhou Enlai in establishing this bilateral relationship. Mr. Gilani also praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for enhancing regional connectivity and lauded China’s support for Pakistan during crises.



Mr. Gilani expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in trade, technology, and clean energy. He extended congratulations to the CPC on its anniversary and recognized the seminar’s organizers for facilitating the event. The seminar also featured speeches by prominent figures, including Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, along with presentations on the CPC’s history and development.
