Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that 89 percent of the beneficiaries have received payments under the Prime Minister’s Ramzan Relief Package 2026. The announcement was made during a review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister praised the relevant institutions for ensuring the transparent distribution of funds to eligible individuals. He highlighted the Social Protection Wallets as a significant milestone in enhancing financial technology and transparency in the country. Sharif also emphasized the need for all payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme to be made through these digital wallets.
The meeting revealed that 1,955,620 digital transactions have been completed under the Ramzan Relief Package 2026. Additionally, a comprehensive awareness campaign is underway, utilizing various media platforms to inform beneficiaries about the package. The program’s helpline has received 1.7 million calls, and 2.7 million SMS messages have been sent to keep the public informed.
The briefing further noted that the Social Protection Wallets have been particularly effective in narrowing the gender gap in accessing digital financial systems in Pakistan.
