73% Population benefiting from free treatment with the launch of the health card program in the Faisalabad division: Usman Buzdar

Lahore, February 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):New Pakistan National Health Card Program has been launched in the Faisalabad division by the government to extend free treatment facilities through a network of 90 best hospitals. While addressing the launch ceremony, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the PTI government has the honour of working the hardest in the health sector in the history of Pakistan while Punjab is an ideal province in terms of health facilities.

After the launch in Faisalabad, the sixth division of Punjab, 73% of the population has, now, access to National Health Card and by March, 100% of the people of Punjab will have access to free treatment through New Pakistan National Health Card, he added.

While giving a detail of the healthcare initiatives of the provincial government, he said the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology was being upgraded at a cost of Rs.58 crores. The DHQ hospital in Faisalabad was being upgraded at a cost of Rs.40 crore, he added.

Government General Hospital Samanabad was also being upgraded from 50 beds to 250 beds, he noted. THQ hospital Chak Jhumra will be upgraded at a cost of Rs.26 crore while Paramedics College was being set up at a cost of Rs.51 crore in Toba Tek Singh, the CM stated. Rs.37 crores were earmarked to build the 150-bed Ghulam Nabi Block at DHQ hospital Jhang. Meanwhile, tehsil hospital Tandlianwala will be upgraded from 60 beds to 100 beds, he said.

A new block of 40 beds will also be constructed in Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jaranwala. A new district headquarters hospital of 125-bed capacity would be constructed in Chiniot, the CM stated. A trauma center, dialysis center, burn center and surgical ward will be set up at Toba Tek Singh’s district headquarters hospital, he further said.

The CM said gynaecology and children’s ward were also being expanded in Samundari’s tehsil headquarters hospital. A new Government General Hospital was being constructed at Chak No. 224 RB, he counted. Eight mother and child hospitals and 78 new health facilities were being constructed in the province, added Usman Buzdar. A total of 158 hospitals and health centers have been upgraded in the province, he added and further explained that Rs.740 billion, including that of PSDP, would be spent on development projects.

The CM asserted that the facility of free treatment through health cards was the first step towards the establishment of the State of Madinah. The way the government has focused on the health sector did not happen in the past, he maintained.

The journey of public service would be continued under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said and congratulated the people of Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot and Toba Tek Singh on the launch of the New Pakistan National Health Card Program in their areas.
