5G Spectrum Auction Aims to Propel Mobile Services with New Frequency Bands

Islamabad: The auction for the next generation of mobile services, including the 5G spectrum, is set to take place today. This auction will feature spectrum offerings across six frequency bands, with a total of 597.2 MHz available for bidding. The introduction of four new bands is intended to facilitate the deployment of 5G services nationwide.

According to Radio Pakistan, major telecom operators Jazz, Zong, and Ufone have each deposited $15 million as pre-bid earnest money, collectively amounting to $45 million. The government anticipates generating over $634 million from the auction, contingent on the competitive dynamics and final spectrum pricing.
