Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed that 2,000 Pakistani students have been evacuated from Iran due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The announcement was made during a session where Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary addressed concerns raised by members, including Natasha Daultana. He assured the assembly that the Pakistani embassy and consulates in Iran are providing continuous support and emergency assistance to Pakistani nationals.

According to Radio Pakistan, the National Assembly also passed a resolution honoring women’s contributions to Pakistan’s social, political, and economic development. Initiated by Shahida Rehmani, the resolution emphasized the country’s commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It urged for increased investment in women’s development, focusing on education, health, economic empowerment, and political participation.

The resolution called on state institutions, civil society, and development partners to collaboratively transform these commitments into tangible actions to advance women’s rights, justice, and opportunities in Pakistan.

In addition, the National Assembly passed several bills, including amendments related to the Islamabad Capital Territory Charities Registration and Facilitation, Provincial Motor Vehicles, and the Code of Criminal Procedure. The assembly also passed the Islamabad Capital Territory Compulsory Thalassemia Screening Bill and the Federal Supervision of Curricula, Text Books, and Maintenance of Standards of the Education Amendment Bill, alongside the Daanish University Islamabad Bill.
