100 Commandos Join Islamabad Police’s Newly Formed Delta Force

ISLAMABAD: In a ceremonial display at the Police Lines Headquarters, 100 commandos officially joined the Islamabad Police’s newly established Delta Force unit. The passing-out parade was attended by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf, who served as the chief guest, alongside Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, and other senior officials.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the event marked a significant milestone for the police force, as articulated by IGP Rizvi, who emphasized the unit’s role in realizing the vision set forth by the Prime Minister and the Federal Interior Minister. The Delta Force, part of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), is tasked with ensuring the safety of Islamabad, combating terrorism, and protecting citizens.

Chief Commissioner Ashraf praised the discipline and bravery of the Islamabad Police, referring to their commendable performance in recent security operations. He honored the 69 personnel who sacrificed their lives in service, acknowledging their contributions to the nation’s safety.

The Delta Force comprises 50 members from the Special Services Group and 50 from the CTD Islamabad. IGP Rizvi noted that the unit’s training was supervised by SSP CTD Saud Khan, ensuring a high level of preparedness. Both male and female officers are included in the force, which aims to set new standards of professionalism and bravery.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of confidence in the Delta Force’s ability to safeguard Islamabad and tackle challenges with courage and resilience.
