Islamabad: The chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, has commenced an indefinite hunger strike in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, protesting what he describes as inadequate medical facilities provided to him by the jail authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, JKLF Chief Spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar stated in Islamabad that Yasin Malik initiated the hunger strike on Friday. Dar emphasized that Malik, known for his non-violent advocacy for the Kashmir freedom struggle and support for dialogue-based resolutions, should not face victimization for his political beliefs.
Dar further expressed that despite court orders and verbal assurances regarding petitions filed by Malik’s family for his medical treatment, necessary actions have not been taken. The chief spokesman voiced concerns about Malik’s declining health, describing the lack of appropriate medical care as a significant human rights violation. He called upon global leaders and human rights organizations to intervene to ensure Malik’s well-being.
