Islamabad: The Country Director of the World Bank, Mr. Najy Benhassine, and his team met with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood to review the FBR Transformation Plan aimed at reforming Pakistan’s tax system. The plan, approved by the Prime Minister, is designed to enhance revenue growth and streamline tax compliance.
According to Federal Board of Revenue, Chairman Mahmood provided a detailed overview of the plan, which focuses on key reforms such as tax policy changes, digitalization efforts, anti-smuggling measures, and capacity building for FBR personnel. The initiatives are aligned with the Pakistan Raises Revenue Project to ensure broad-based improvements in tax administration.
World Bank officials, including Lead Country Economist Tobias Akhtar Haque, expressed their support for the transformation plan and reiterated the World Bank’s commitment to assist Pakistan in its revenue mobilization efforts.
