Islamabad: A westerly weather system is projected to bring rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail to upper regions of the country from March 9 to 12, impacting areas from Chitral to Islamabad.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the weather system is expected to approach the western parts of the country by Monday evening and persist until March 12. The forecast predicts moderate rain and thunderstorms, with occasional heavy falls, in districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Malakand. Additionally, light rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in regions such as Khyber, Peshawar, and Mianwali on March 10 and 11.

The forecast also includes rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad, the Pothohar region, and Murree from the night of March 9 to March 11. Hailstorms are possible in isolated locations, including Islamabad. Daytime temperatures in the upper regions are expected to decrease by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Authorities caution that landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Tourists are advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period. Farmers are urged to manage their crops in accordance with the weather conditions. Additionally, due to recent events in Iran, winds carrying pollutants may affect air quality in the western parts of the country.
