Islamabad: A week-long nationwide anti-polio campaign is scheduled to begin on April 21, according to Syed Mustafa Kamal, the Minister for National Health Services. The initiative aims to address misconceptions about polio immunization and raise awareness about its importance.

During a news conference held in Islamabad, Kamal disclosed that six polio cases have been identified in Pakistan this year. He emphasized the urgency of the upcoming campaign, which seeks to curb the spread of the virus.

The minister announced that over 400,000 polio workers will be deployed throughout the country to ensure the campaign’s success. He expressed a firm commitment to eradicating the polio virus from Pakistan by the end of the year.

The campaign underscores the ongoing efforts to combat polio, a disease that remains a public health challenge despite global eradication efforts. The planned activities are part of a broader strategy to bolster immunization coverage and protect future generations from the virus.
