Week-Long Anti-Polio Campaign Set to Vaccinate 19 Million Children Across 79 Districts


Islamabad: A week-long special anti-polio campaign is scheduled to commence tomorrow, targeting 79 districts nationwide with the aim of vaccinating approximately 19 million children under the age of five. The initiative, which will conclude on the 24th of this month, seeks to combat the spread of polio through extensive immunization efforts.



According to National Emergency Operations Centre, the campaign will focus on administering anti-polio drops to children across various regions. In Punjab, about 6.19 million children in 10 selected districts are set to receive the vaccine. Sindh will see around 5.79 million children treated in 20 districts. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4.61 million children across 23 districts will be vaccinated, while in Balochistan, nearly 1.99 million children in 25 districts will be covered. Additionally, approximately 450,000 children in the federal capital are included in the campaign.



The government has ensured strict security measures to protect the polio teams as they conduct door-to-door visits to administer the vaccine, reinforcing the commitment to eradicating the disease.
