Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation, has issued a sharp condemnation of the Narendra Modi-led Indian government, accusing it of orchestrating an aggressive campaign to undermine Muslim identity in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The critique centers around the Waqf Amendment Act, which Mullick describes as a strategic move aimed at erasing Muslim cultural heritage and appropriating religious endowments.

In a statement reported by Kashmir Media Service, Mullick, who is married to the incarcerated Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, criticized what she perceives as global indifference to the Modi administration’s intensified actions against the Muslim population in Kashmir and India. She argues that the recent legislative changes are symptomatic of a broader agenda to marginalize minorities within India’s democratic framework.

Mullick alleges that the Waqf Act, far from enhancing transparency, is a calculated effort by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to culturally homogenize India. The act’s provisions, which include the appointment of non-Muslim administrators to Islamic trusts and the digitization of records, are viewed by Mullick as mechanisms for eventual land confiscation, drawing parallels to the strategies employed in Israel’s settlement policies.

The statement also highlights recent violence in West Bengal, where three individuals reportedly lost their lives, as evidence of the escalating tensions stemming from the Waqf Act. Mullick accuses the Indian government of employing oppressive tactics to silence dissent, particularly targeting Kashmiri and Indian Muslims, while the international community remains largely passive due to economic interests.

Mullick further charges that the Indian regime has rendered the country inhospitable for its Muslim minority, citing instances of religious persecution and the destruction of cultural sites. She calls upon the United Nations and global powers to recognize India as a genocidal state, equate the RSS with terrorist organizations, and pursue a resolution to the Kashmir conflict that honors the desires of its people.
