ISLAMABAD: The United States has commended Pakistan for its role in fostering regional peace and stability following a meeting between US Charge d’Affaires to Pakistan Natalie Baker and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting, held in Islamabad, focused on recent developments in the region and diplomatic efforts, including discussions on the forthcoming second round of Islamabad talks.
According to Radio Pakistan, Interior Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude for US President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire, describing it as a significant step towards reducing tensions. Both parties in the meeting stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels to achieve a lasting resolution to ongoing conflicts.
Naqvi highlighted the efforts being made by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to address the issues at various levels. He expressed optimism that involved parties would consider diplomatic and peaceful solutions. In response, Baker acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in advancing peace and conflict resolution in the region.
