UN Secretary-General Meets Pakistani Leader, Discusses Regional and Global Security Issues


Islamabad: The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in Islamabad to discuss a range of regional and global issues, with a particular focus on peace and security concerns in Palestine, Jammu & Kashmir, Afghanistan, counter-terrorism, and the future of multilateralism.



According to Press Information Department, Senator Dar briefed Secretary-General Guterres on Pakistan’s position regarding Jammu & Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty, emphasizing the country’s call for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. Additionally, Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and de-escalation, notably its role in facilitating the Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran.



During the meeting, Secretary-General Guterres expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the United Nations and acknowledged its diplomatic efforts in fostering dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation in various conflicts.
