UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Visit Pakistan for High-Level Talks and Site Visits

Islamabad: Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, is set to visit Pakistan from October 6 to 8, 2026, following an invitation from Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan. The visit will include meetings with senior Pakistani officials and site visits aimed at strengthening ties and discussing key global issues.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his visit, Mr. Guterres will engage in discussions with Pakistan’s top leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, and military chiefs. The Secretary-General’s itinerary includes a visit to the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) headquarters and a briefing at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Pakistan.

The visit will highlight Pakistan’s efforts in multilateralism, international peace, security, and disaster preparedness. It will also offer a platform to reinforce Pakistan’s ongoing cooperation with the United Nations and to discuss regional and global developments.

The visit will acknowledge the leadership and contributions of Mr. Guterres in promoting international peace and development. It underscores Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, with the UN playing a central role, and its dedication to the principles of the UN Charter.
