Tremors Rattle Regions in Pakistan and Afghanistan After 5.3 Earthquake


Islamabad: A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook several regions in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan early this morning, causing concern among residents but no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The tremors were felt across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Punjab, and extended into Afghanistan.



According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the affected areas in Pakistan included Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Chitral, Abbottabad, Mardan, Mohmand, Swabi, Lower Dir, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, and some parts of Punjab.



In Afghanistan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported a 5.6 magnitude tremor in the Hindu Kush Region, with the epicenter located approximately 164 kilometers east of Baghlan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 121 kilometers.



Authorities in both countries are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain calm while they assess any potential impact.
