Islamabad: A new Transformer-Based Load Management System is set to be implemented across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to improve energy distribution and reduce load shedding in the region. This initiative, announced by Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, seeks to phase out the traditional method of shutting down entire feeders, moving towards managing load directly on individual transformers.
According to Radio Pakistan, the announcement came during a consultative meeting in Islamabad co-chaired by Minister Leghari, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The meeting focused on developing sustainable solutions to address the power and energy challenges faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The governor emphasized the need for a significant reduction in load shedding duration, particularly in high-loss and severely affected areas.
As a gesture of goodwill, Minister Leghari agreed to extend electricity supply durations in areas previously burdened by prolonged outages. The federal leadership is optimistic that the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will respond positively by settling their outstanding electricity bills and supporting anti-power theft measures, thereby ensuring continuous power supply in the province.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both federal and provincial leaders to maintain close collaboration for the timely implementation of the agreed strategies. This collaboration aims to provide swift and enduring relief to the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
