Karachi, Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Energy, Development, and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that 1320 MW of electricity will be added to the national grid upon the completion of the first phase of the Tharcoal Block project. The minister made this statement during a meeting with a Shanghai Power delegation at the Sindh Energy Department office. The CEO of Shanghai Power, Meng Donghai, and the CEO of SSRC, Mr. Jain, were present, along with the Secretary of the Energy Department, Sindh Kazim Jatoi, and other senior officials.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, the 2300 MW Tharcoal Block One Power Generation Project is expected to play a significant role in meeting the nation’s energy needs. Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah assured the Shanghai Power delegation that all ongoing obstacles to the project’s completion would be removed, and full cooperation would be extended by the Sindh government to ensure the project’s swift completion.
The minister emphasized the importance of providing adequate support to the local people involved in the project, urging the delegation to ensure that the residents receive all possible facilities. He noted that the Tharcoal project is crucial for the entire country, including the province of Sindh. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah mentioned that under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government is prioritizing public welfare projects, including solarization and energy projects. Work is progressing rapidly across all sectors to meet these goals.
The announcement signifies a significant step towards addressing Pakistan’s energy requirements and highlights the commitment of the Sindh government to support key infrastructure projects for the benefit of the entire nation.
