Tariq Fazal Chaudhary Calls for Opposition Collaboration to Foster Prosperity in Pakistan

Islamabad: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has extended an invitation to opposition parties to engage in discussions with the government aimed at achieving a stable and prosperous Pakistan. The invitation was announced in response to comments made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Gohar Ali Khan during a session of the National Assembly.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhary emphasized the government’s preference for reconciliation over confrontation, highlighting the Prime Minister’s ongoing efforts to involve all political parties in governance. He elaborated on the rationale behind the imposition of Governor’s Rule and emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, citing actions against terrorist elements and those challenging state authority.

Chaudhary announced the approval of a one hundred and sixty billion rupee grant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enhance the provincial police’s capacity to combat terrorism, as well as to fund health, education, and infrastructure projects, some of which have been pending for over a decade. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating that Governor’s Rule would persist for six months, with the emergency continuing until peace is restored.

In other developments, the National Assembly was informed about a comprehensive program for early tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment. Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Nelson Azeem discussed the door-to-door efforts to identify and treat tuberculosis patients, which have contributed to a reduction in cases and fatalities.

The assembly also considered several legislative items, including the Petroleum Levy and Climate Support Levy Amendment Bill, 2026, and the Railway Board Bill, 2026. A resolution was adopted to extend the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority Amendment Ordinance, 2026, for an additional one hundred and twenty days, as moved by Chaudhary. The session concluded with the passage of three bills, including amendments to the National College of Arts Institute, the Centre for Clinical Psychology Centres, and the Area Study Centres. The House is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at eleven a.m.
