Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has successfully upgraded its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA, enhancing its digital governance capabilities and training 86 officials as part of this initiative. According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, this development is part of the World Bank-funded Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP) Project.
The upgraded system, operational since October 2025, integrates crucial institutional functions such as Financial Accounting, Funds Management, and Procurement. The new platform also automates billing and revenue management for services like the Pakistan Education & Research Network and Digital Library, aiming to improve efficiency and transparency.
HEC plans to further enhance its operations by implementing SAP Human Capital Management and Employee Self-Service licenses. This will allow employees to manage various HR functions via digital portals. Additional enhancements in analytics and management dashboards are expected to aid in integrated reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
A certificate distribution ceremony was held to honor the 86 employees who completed the SAP S/4HANA training. HEC Executive Director Dr. Zia Ul Haq highlighted the importance of technology in institutional modernization and praised the efforts behind the ERP upgrade. This initiative underscores HEC’s dedication to creating a more efficient, transparent, and digitally empowered institution within Pakistan’s higher education sector.
