Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has announced a revised Summer Vacation schedule for 2026, aimed at enhancing judicial efficiency and expediting the disposal of pending cases. This move underscores the Court’s dedication to ensuring timely justice and improving institutional capacity.
According to Press Information Department, the Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court, upon the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan’s request and following mutual consultation, have decided to extend their sitting period at the Principal Seat in Islamabad during the summer vacations. This change marks a shift from previous practices, as judges will reduce the sitting period at Branch Registries. The vacation period will remain consistent with past years, spanning four weeks.
The initiative seeks to increase judicial availability during the summer recess, allowing for uninterrupted hearings and case resolutions. This decision highlights the Supreme Court’s collective effort to optimize its resources, enhance court performance, and improve access to justice.
